Infosys Technologies was founded on July 2nd, 1981 in Pune. The company is headquartered in Bangalore, is represented in 26 countries worldwide and operates development centers in India, China, Australia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Great Britain, Canada and Japan.

Some Indian centers: Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Mangalore, Mysore, Mohali and Thiruvananthapuram.

With more than 100,000 employees and sales exceeding 4 billion US dollars, Infosys Technologies is one of the largest IT companies in India (as of December 31, 2009).

Infosys co-founder Nilekani was personally commissioned by Indian President Manmohan Singh to organize the largest digital census in the world, in which the data records of 1.2 billion Indians were recorded and stored in 2010 and 2011 (ten fingerprints, eye iris scan , a total of 2 MB per person). Nilekani built a state start-up company especially for this purpose.[1]
