Summary

Nitric acid and nitrates are among the most important substances in chemical practice. Nitric acid is one of the basic inorganic chemicals in the chemical industry; In particular, nitrations are carried out for the production of explosives, paints and fibers, while a very large number of dyes, drugs and other chemicals are obtained from the nitration products in a further reaction sequence. Of the explosives, the nitric acid esters (nitroglycerin, glycol nitrates, nitrocellulose, pentaerythritol nitrate) are analytically closely related to nitric acid.
