Persian - also called Farsi
Very similar to the Arabic script, the Persian script appears to the non-expert ... many wondrous characters, also in the opposite direction of writing: Here it goes from right to left! Persian is spoken mainly in Central and Southwest Asia. It is an Indo-European language. Persian is the official language of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. About 65 million people speak Persian as their mother tongue. Most of them live in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. And why is Persian sometimes called Farsi? Farsi is the Iranian name for Persian. In Afghanistan and Pakistan, on the other hand, it is called Dari.
The Persian alphabet
Persian and Arabic are not related to each other: Persian is an Indo-European language, Arabic is a Semitic language within the Afro-Asian language family. And yet the Arabic script has been used since the Islamization of Persia. However, the alphabet was expanded by four letters.
