Summary

In view of the increasing dynamics in the markets, the ability to adapt quickly to changing environmental requirements is considered to be the central core competence of companies. If you follow the more recent results of strategy and organizational research, then those companies are successful in the long term that have the ability to continuously reinvent themselves. This type of change can be described as continuous self-renewal. Continuous self-renewal is understood as a profound change process that takes place with foresight and is not triggered by acute pressure to act or a crisis. This contradicts the "classic" concepts of change management, which assume that profound change processes are only successful when there is acute pressure to act. Is continuous renewal a purely theoretical type of change process? This article examines this question. Based on a case study study, the author can empirically demonstrate this type of change. The research results also show that continuous self-renewal works according to completely different principles than previously known change processes. Continuous self-renewal therefore fundamentally challenges our established thinking about organizational change, so the central conclusion of the author.
